Ensure timely repair of power transformers: Mir

SRINAGAR, Mar 7: To assess the quantum of damage to power infrastructure in Valley, the Minister of State for Power Development Department, Mohammad Ashraf Mir today undertook an extensive inspection of Bemina Power Grid Station and Electric Central Stores Workshop Pampore.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to prepare a list of repaired transformers to enable the concerned to install repaired transformers in place of damaged ones wherever required. He asked the officers to submit information about damaged transformers daily to him so that the grievances of people regarding power supply are redressed in time.
He directed the officers to ensure punctuality of officials in workshop to develop a healthy and productive work culture.
The Minister was informed that 584 damaged transformers have been repaired from September 2014 to February 2015, out of which 504 transformers have been sent to the concerned divisions, while 80 damaged transformers are under repair in the Workshops.
The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Engineer PDD and other senior officers of the department.
Later, the Minister convened a meeting of senior officers of LAWDA, SMC, UEED and SDA.
Mir urged the officers to ensure better sanitation and drainage system in the Valley. He also directed the concerned to ensure dewatering of all low lying areas forth with.
Reviewing the Srinagar Master Plan, the Minister directed the concerned to ensure that no commercial building is constructed without seeking permission from the concerned authority.
Meanwhile, Mr Mir directed DC Srinagar to ensure steady supply of essentials including food grains, k.oil, LPG and Petroleum products to consumers.
He also asked the Deputy Commissioner to make every effort for dewatering of all water logged and low lying areas of the city.
He ordered the Deputy Commissioner to take every step for streamlining the traffic system in the city including removal of road side encroachments by shopkeepers and vendors.
