JAMMU, Mar 7: J&K SC/ST and BC Development Corporation Limited today conducted one day awareness camp at Valmiki Mandi in Bakshi Nagar in collaboration with National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation, Government of India.
Corporation’s Managing Director YP Suman inaugurated the camp.
Objective of the awareness camp was to highlight programmes and schemes of the Corporation including schemes of National Safai Karamcharis Corporation available for the target people regarding newly launched scheme of `Swachhta Udyami Yojana, Swachhta Se Sampannta Ki Aur’.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Suman highlighted schemes and programmes of the Corporation. He informed that the Corporation is working as state channelizing agency for six national level Corporation of the Government of India, which were working for upliftment of SCs, STs, BCs, notified national minorities, safai karamcharis/ scavengers and handicapped people.
He impressed upon the target group people to avail maximum benefits of the schemes launched by the Government through the SC/ST/BCs Corporation to set up income generating units and improve their socio-economic living standard.
Mr Suman informed that the Corporation has so far provided financial assistance to 32,223 beneficiaries amounting to Rs 138.49 crores including 615 safai karamcharis. He said during current financial year, the Corporation has fixed target of disbursement of Rs 8 crores under Direct Financing Scheme and Rs 4.86 crores under bank tie-up to cover 650 and 100 beneficiaries respectively,
Manager Projects Iqbal Kataria highlighted details of the schemes of the Corporation.
