Srinagar, Mar 7: One more person died of swine flu at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) today taking the number of swine flu deaths to 9.
The Medical Superintendent of SKIMS hospital, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that the dead patient was having multiple co-morbidities and also tested positive for H1N1.
“Eight patients were admitted in Isolation ward of the SKIMS in the last 24 hours and six patients were discharged today. Five new samples were taken from the suspected patients and 100 patients were examined at SKIMS today”, the MS said.
Dr Jan said that five patients were tested positive in last 24 hours at SKIMS. He said that 72 pending samples which were positive for Influenza A were processed and out of which 62 have been positive for H1N1. He said that the total number of H1N1 positive cases till date has now risen to 385.

Meanwhile, no fresh swine flu case and resultant death was reported in Jammu region.
However, seven patients including those positive for H1N1 and suspected for the same, are still admitted in Isolation Ward of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
According to Medical Superintendent, GMCH, Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal, as on date seven patients are under observation in Isolation Ward of the hospital while one person was discharged in last 24 hours after his condition improved.
He further disclosed that a total of 88 patients were screened today in Flu OPD being run in the hospital and samples of 34 were taken for testing.
