Valley receives fresh snowfall, heavy rains ahead

SRINAGAR:
Most parts of Kashmir Valley including summer capital Srinagar experienced fresh snowfall today, bringing down the temperatures.
Srinagar and other plain areas of the Valley as well as the higher reaches received fresh snowfall today with the maximum temperature settling at 3.4 degrees Celsius, MET department said.
The department has predicted heavy rains or snowfall at some places in the State over the next 24 hours.
Reports of snowfall were also received from the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg and Pahalgam and other places in the higher reaches of the Valley, it said.
The MET department said there would be moderate to heavy snowfall at widespread places in Jammu and Kashmir divisions and at scattered places of Ladakh region today.
Heavy to very heavy rains or snowfall would occur at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir regions and at isolated places in Kargil district of Ladakh region over the next 24 hours, it said.
The department, however, added that there would be improvement in the weather from Tuesday onwards. (AGENCIES)
