JAMMU, Mar 9: Various Institutions and Organizations celebrated International Women’s Day with pomp and show, today.
To celebrate the women’s day, The Centre for Women’s Studies , University of Jammu in collaboration with the office of the chairman NSS campus units, university of Jammu organized poster making and slogan making competitions at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, here today.
Prof Jasbir Singh, chairman NSS campus units, presented welcome address and highlighted the significance of such events.
Dr. Sanjay Sharma, administrator, General Zorawar Singh Auditorium University of Jammu was the chief guest for the event he declared the competition open.
The theme of the slogan writing competition was’”Role of women in contemporary India” and the theme of the poster making was “Women in contemporary India”.
The programme coordinator NSS Jammu University, Dr Vishavraksha was also present during the event.
The programme officers Dr. Hema Gandotra and Dr. Seema Rohmetra coordinated the event. The competitions were adjudicated by Prof Neeru Sharma, Dr. Anupama Vohra and Dr Sanjay Sharma.
NSS volunteers Shiv Dutt Sharma, Sumit Kumar Dogra, Navjot Bakshi, Kamalpreet Singh, Charanpaul Singh were also present. Around 65 students participated in both the events.
In Slogan writing, first prize was bagged by Babli Devi of Bhartiya College of Education, while the second prize went to Lovleen Kour and the third prize was claimed by Sheetal Gandhia of RK College of Education.
In Poster making, the first prize was clinched by Manisha Sharma of Bhartiya College of Education, while the second prize was bagged by Poonam Jamwal of K C Gurukul College and the third prize went to Sumeshwar Singh of Trikuta Degree College.
Women Club of Ramisht College of Education celebrated Women’s Day by organizing a function in the college. Women of near by villages and prominent persons were invited in the program wherein students of the college expressed their views on importance of women in our society.
NSS wing of Govt. Polytechnic for Women Jammu organized a function on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2015 in the institution campus.
An impressive cultural programme comprising of dance and skits was presented by the students of CDTP and IRG wings.
Bhawna Arora, NSS coordinator who spearheaded the activity, while starting the deliberations, highlighted the topic and relevance of its celebration.
Neetu Maini, Principal, while appreciating the gesture of the NSS exhorted upon the students to take active part in co curricular activities which are highly beneficial for overall development of personality of students.
The program was attended by around 100 students of CDTP/IRG scheme as well as faculty and staff of the Institution.
International Women’s Day was celebrated by District Legal Services Authority and Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Udhampur in District Court premises, Udhampur.
Kalpana Revo, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur and Kusum Pandita, CJM, Udhampur (Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Udhampur) spoke on the occasion.
The women members of the Bar Association Udhampur, Sanjeet Kumar Advocate and Swatantar Dev Kotwal, Social Worker, Deputy Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Udhampur participated and apprised the participants about the importance and historical background of celebrating women’s day.
The women development cell of the Govt. College of Education celebrated Women’s Day by organizing one day seminar on the topic Women Empowerment issues and concerns.
Prof. Dr Renu Nanda, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Renu Nanda appreciated the team work of the College in providing the platform to the students to show their hidden talent.
Prof. Baljinder Kour, Dr Piyali Arora, Prof. Mansi Sharma, Prof. Rubina Yasmeen, Komal Kotwal, Pinaki Bakshi and Priyanka Koul spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Ajeet Angral welcomed the guests and appreciated the initiative of Women Development Cell.
Prof. Dr. Jyoti Parihar, convener of the Women Development Cell, presented a key note address and introduced the theme.
Dr. Rajinder Kour, member of the Cell organized an interactive session followed by presentation.
Programme was compared by Neerja and Tanzeel while the vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Maansi Sharma.
To commemorate International Women’s Day, Smt. Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies (SSGWS), MIER College of Education organized two very stimulating and inspiring activities namely: slogan writing activity under the theme “Educate the Girl Child” and a “Sharing of Experience” programme in which Sakina Itoo, former Minister of State for Social Welfare, was the resource person.
At the beginning of the programme, a latest issue of wall magazine on the topic “Women Rights and Humanity” was inaugurated. Wall magazine is one the important features of the centre, which was highly appreciated by the resource person.
Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER presented welcome address, while the vote of thanks was presented by Monika Rathore, coordinator CWS. The programme was conducted by Sanjana Manchanda, a B.Ed student.
Staff members of R M Public School celebrated International Women Day with zeal and zest today. Cultural programme and games like musical chair were organized teachers put their efforts and won the prizes.
Administrator, Meenakshi Sharma, Principal Ravinder Kour and Vice Principal Shashi Jamwal expressed their views on the occasion.
In connection with International Women’s Day, a seminar was held under the guidance of Subash Chandra Gupta,Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kulgam and C L Bavoria, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kulgam at Town Hall Kulgam.
The seminar was attended by Judicial Officers of District Kulgam, Advocates, Anganwari workers, employees of Health and Social Welfare Department and women from various fields.
During the function, various speakers threw light on many important issues relating to women. The main focus of the lectures remained upon the issues viz. Women Empowerment, Women Property Rights, Rights of Women Prisoners, Legal Rights of Women, problems and issues faced by women in the present society and those being faced by the women since ages and need for women awareness. The speakers highlighted the role of the women towards the society in the seminar.
To celebrate the International Women’s Day, an essay writing competition on the topic, ‘How Far Women is Safe in Today’s World’ and Rangoli Competition was organized by the NSS Unit of Sant Mela Singh College of Education today.
A galaxy of NSS volunteers participated and showed their creativity using natural and synthetic colours which depicted happy, prosperous and colourful life of women.
In essay writing competition, Pawandeep Kour was declared first, Rekha Devi second and Jasmeen Kour as third. Positions were claimed by the students divided in six groups in Rangoli competition.
Chairman of the College, Prof Anmol Singh and Principal, Dr Kiran Luthra spoke on the occasiuon and lauded the efforts of the students.
