JAMMU, Mar 10: The displaced persons from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) today held strong protest demonstration at Press Club near Tawi bridge and alleged that instead of solving public issues as committed during elections, the BJP was strengthening the hands of pro-Pakistan Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
The PoJK displaced persons in large number assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club in the morning and held massive protest demonstration against BJP and Mufti Mohammed Sayeed for his pro-Pakistan and pro-separatists stance. They raised slogans in support of their demands and alleged that BJP despite tall promises has turned silent over the issues of POJK and West Pakistan refugees. They have surrendered the interests of Jammu people to Mufti Mohammed and dancing on Mufti’s tune.
Rashpal Singh Chib, president Jammu and Kashmir POJK DPs Front -1947, 65 and 71 was leading the protest. He alleged that DPs are feeling cheated by the BJP leadership. On the earlier occasions, Congress and NC befooled them for long. Before the recently held Lok Sabha and Assembly elections the BJP leadership had given assurances and even mentioned in the Vision Document the issues related to one time settlement of POJK DPs and providing citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees, reserve eight Assembly seats and 2 MLC seats to the members of this community and constitution of delimitation committee besides making amendment in Article 370 but after coming into power, the BJP has become silent. They have stopped speaking over these issues.
Mr Chib alleged that BJP has surrendered the interests of the people of Jammu region and instead of fight for the issues of Jammu’ interests, they have now started strengthening the hands of Mufti Mohd Sayeed who is known for his soft policies towards Pakistan, militants and separatists. Mufti Sayeed from the day one started sowing the seeds of communalism and showing his real colours. The people of Jammu should realize this fact that PDP will never watch the interests of Jammu region, He said that refugees have been disappointed with the attitude and criminal silence of BJP leadership in the State and also at the Centre. It is painful to note that anti-India, anti-Jammu and anti-refugee forces are being honoured by BJP.
The refugees’ leader called upon all the organisations of displaced persons to get united and launch a joint struggle against the present regime. After holding protest demonstration for over two hours the refugees dispersed. Several other refugee leaders also spoke on the occasion.
