JAMMU, Mar 11: Ghulam Rasool Mir was today declared successful as the President of Civil Secretariat Non Gazetted Employees Union. He defeated his nearest rival Rouf Ahmad by a margin of 250 votes.
Hailing from Anderhama, Kupwara, Mir is known for his affable and employee friendly attitude. He started his career as Junior Assistant and by dint of hard work rose to the position of Office Superintendent.
The results of elections were declared by Returning Officer, Dr. G N Itoo.
Ghulam Rasool Mir got 564 votes while as his rival Rouf Ahmed Bhat got 278 votes.
Surinder Bedia was elected as Vice President while as Thana Ji Bhat was elected General Secretary. Farooq Ahmed was elected as Secretary while as Parveez Ahmed Khan and Ghulam Nabi Tantray were elected as Publicity Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Mr. Ghulam Rasool’s group bagged all the 20 positions of members of the Union by defeating their nearest rivals by convincing margins.
