JAMMU: Stressing on technological innovations for optimum utilization of industrial potential of rural and kandi parts of the state, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash, today said it is vital to give a boost to the local traditional industry besides generating employment.
Chairing a high level meeting of officers of Industries and Commerce Department, the Minister asked for an innovative and practical approach to ensure a prompt public delivery system.
“The officers with lackadaisical attitude will have to face the music as no compromise would be tolerated when it comes public convenience”, the Minister maintained. Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, was also present in the meeting.
Emphasizing pragmatic approach towards work, the Minister said that mere paper exertion would not serve the purpose and team work is required for realizing the dream of making Jammu and Kashmir a model state.
The Minister asked the officers to ensure that all potential rural areas are brought under the ambit of schemes of the department as small enterprises play a big role in industrial growth. He also exhorted upon them to involve and encourage women entrepreneurs as they too have an equal role in the field.
The Minister asked for raising more training centres for entrepreneurs to promote skill development initiatives. “Awareness about schemes is an essential component in effective implementation and optimum utilization of resources”, he added.
Addressing the meeting, MoS I&C exhorted the officers for introspection at individual and collective level and come out with well knit strategies for better working. “Nature has bestowed Jammu and Kashmir with abundant natural wealth, the need is to optimally exploit the state’s resources and skills to take the industry to a new height”, he maintained.
He assured all support to officers in their endeavor so that they can work more efficiently and practically.
Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai while highlighting the working of the department informed that various central projects worth Rs. 600 crore are under execution in the state. He apprised about the various units of the department including SIDCO, SICOP, KVIB, Handicraft Corporation, Handloom Development Corporation, J&K cements Limited, JK Minerals Limited, JK Industries Limited, Training and Research Institutes etc.
He also presented the status of cross LoC Trade and gave a brief resume of State Industrial policy, National Mission on Food processing besides centre schemes like ASIDE, MMFP, NIFT, CHCDS, ISDS, MIIUS etc.
Secretary in Industries and Commerce, Sourabh Bhagat besides HODs of Corporation, MDs, GMs and senior officers attended the meeting.
