JAMMU, Mar 12: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today inaugurated Community Health Centre (CHC) building at Basohli, completed at a cost of Rs. 9.72 crore by Public Works Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the CHC having facilities of emergency block, OPD block, Operation Theatre, new born care unit, X-ray, ECG, Ultrasound, immunization and counselling center will cater to the medical needs of about 50,000 souls of Basholi tehsil and its adjoining areas.
He assured that the old hospital building near bus stand will be utilized where provision for first aid and ambulance will be made at the earliest. He also assured ASHA workers that all their pending perks will be cleared at an earliest.
The Minister directed doctors and paramedics staff to follow prescribed dress code and said steps will be taken to discourage the private practice of doctors in private clinics.
Ch Lal Singh said that the Government is committed to provide better medicare facilities to the people of the State especially in far-flung areas, and thrust is being laid to upgrade the basic infrastructure of all health institutions of the State.
District Development Commissioner, Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Director Health Services, Jammu Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Director Family Welfare Dr. B R Sharma, Mission Director NRHM Dr. Yash Paul Sharma, Project Director AIDS Control Society, Dr Mohan Singh, SSP Kathua Neeva Jain, Chief Medical Officer Kathua R.K Sangra,Controller Food and Drugs Organisation Mr. Nazir besides other senior officers of Health Department, PWD and PHE accompanied the Minister during the visit at Basholi.
The Minister said that the hospital will be equipped with all latest diagnostic and treatment facilities. He asked the concerned to ensure proper medicare is provided to the people and upkeep of the health institutions. He said that Government is making all efforts to strengthen the health services in rural and far-flung areas.
Ch Lal Singh stressed on maintaining discipline, punctuality and improve work culture. He directed the medicos and para medicos to wear identity cards during office hours. He asked the concerned officers to maintain office record in a systematic manner and make strenuous efforts to improve work culture in the departments.
Responding to the demand of the locals , the Minister directed Superintendent Engineer of PDD to setup Transformer Repair Workshop in Basohli to avoid undue delays in restoration of power supply
The Minister also took a round of CHC and inspected the medicare facilities for the patients.
Later, the Minister also inspected ISM dispensary at Thein and inaugurated Dispensary at Nagrota.
