PM, Home Min should apologise for RSS mouthpiece depicting J&K as part of Pak: Cong

NEW DELHI, Mar 13: Terming as ‘extremely unfortunate’, the publication of a map in RSS mouthpiece ‘Organiser’ depicting a part of Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan, the Congress today demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the matter.

“It is extremely unfortunate. The RSS should apologise to the nation,” AICC spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told reporters here. Mr Ahmed also demanded an apology from the Prime Minister in the matter.

“The Prime Minister should apologise to the country. If the RSS has committed a blunder then it calls for an explanation from the Prime Minister. In fact, we want the PM, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and anyone who draws inspiration from the RSS to apolgise to the people of the country,” he said. The latest issue of the RSS mouthpiece ‘Organiser’ depicted a part of Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan.

The issue was raised by the Opposition in Parliament. Raising the issue in the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad asked whether the Government approved it. “Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of India and numerous sacrifices have been made to maintain it as the crown,” he said.

Observing that the BJP and RSS have been in the forefront of protests whenever a foreign magazine showed PoK as part of Pakistan, Azad wanted to know from the Government if it approved of the ‘Organiser’ map.

Responding on behalf of the Government, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of India and “we will investigate” the article. “This is not the view of the Sangh, neither the BJP’s and nor that of the Government,” Mr Prasad said. (UNI)
