Zulfkar for implementation of “e-PDS project” on mission mode

JAMMU, Mar 13: Stressing on importance of computerization and digitization of records, Minister for CA&PD, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali directed to implement the “e-PDS project on end to end computerization for PDS” on mission mode to improve the service delivery mechanism.
The Minister stated this while chairing an officers meeting held to review the implementation of the project.
Expressing concern over pilferages at certain levels, the Minister said that speedy digitization of records is necessary for proper maintenance of accurate data regarding the allocated and delivered ration. Besides, it will ensure effective and timely supply to all the destinations besides minimizing diversion.
It was decided in the meeting that the experts from the Information and Technology Department and NIC would procure and install the computer hardware required for implementation of online supply chain management.
In this regard two experts from IT Department have been assigned the job for preparing a detailed roadmap with specification and configuration of latest model of the system.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities that the component I of the project should be completed and launched in six districts, three each from Jammu and Kashmir division  within the period of three months and rest of the districts shall be covered in a period of six months (ie before September 15).
The Minister said that this initiative would help the consumers to get all the information regarding availability and prices besides scale of ration through SMS.
Later a deputation of CAPD Labour Union called on the Minister and apprised him about their demands and grievances regarding enhancement of wages. The Minister assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into for early redressal.
