JAMMU, Mar 13: Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information Priya Sethi today convened a meeting to review the functioning of Higher Education Department here today.
Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Sarita Chouhan apprised the Minister about the functioning of the Higher Education Department with regard to achievements under RUSA, development in setting of new institution IIT, IIMC Jammu, Hostels for J&K Students in Jamia Milia, JK Institute of Mathematical Sciences besides academic reforms like introductory of semester system and choice based credit system in two State Universities.
Minister was also apprised about acquisition of land for new Government Colleges and renovation of colleges damaged due to the floods.
The Minister gave assurance for extending full support for taking up of issues with the authorities concerned for quick disposal of the cases which would facilitate smooth functioning of colleges. She further laid emphasis on maintaining the quality of education, improving the quality of teaching, and effective civic education.
The Minister stressed on coordinated efforts besides working with a team spirit to achieve desired goals. He asked them to work with zeal and dedication to improve the functioning of the department.
