Govt calls Harshdev to educate first time MLAs

JAMMU, Mar 14: In a rare honour, the State Government has invited former Minister and Panthers Party leader Harshdev Singh to educate first time MLAs on Rules of procedures governing the Assembly on March 16 at IMPARD Regional Campus, Sidhra.
“In view of your Himalayan experience as part of the Legislature over the years, it has been decided to request you to address first time legislators on the subject—‘Rules of procedures’, which inter-alia include summons to members, seating, oath of affirmation, role of members, election of Pro-tem Speaker, Speaker and Deputy Speaker, legislations, petitions, resolutions, motions and procedure in financial matters, panel of chairman, Governor’s Address and message to the House,’’ a letter addressed to Harshdev Singh by the General Administration Department, said.
It said the Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPARD) is conducting one day orientation workshop on ‘Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in J&K Legislature; for first time legislators on March 16 at IMPARD Regional Campus and requested Harshdev Singh to aware and educate the MLAs from 12.15 pm to 1.30 pm.
It may be mentioned that there were 55 first time MLAs, who have been elected to the Assembly.
The Government, as reported, has decided to hold one day orientation workshop for newly elected MLAs to educate and apprise them about Rules of the Assembly.
