JAMMU, Mar 15: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders and workers here today paid rich tributes to party’s founder late Kanshi Ram on his 81st birth anniversary.
The main function was organized at Gupta Palace which was attended in large number by BSP leaders, workers and supporters, who paid floral tributes to the dalit champion.
On the occasion, the leaders also remembered the achievements of Kanshi Ram and his contribution for the uplift of dalits and other backward castes.
Speaking on the occasion, RS MP, Narendra Kumar Kashyap and national general secretary of BSP, threw light on the achievements of late Kanshi Ram, who he said added a new chapter in the politics of India.
“It was Kanshi Ram who brought all dalit, downtrodden and poor people on one platform and raised a national party (BSP)”, Kashyap said, and added that it was due to his efforts that Kumari Mayawati became Chief Minister of UP for record four times.
Kashyap appealed the workers to strengthen the roots of the party in J&K so that poor, downtrodden and dalits could get their due rights.
On the occasion, he also launched a veiled attack on BJP-PDP coalition Government of J&K, saying that the Chief Minister of the State insulted the people, Election Commission and Army by giving credit of peaceful elections in the State to militants, Pakistan and separatists.
Choudhary Gurnam Singh, chief guest on the occasion, said that the time has come to make true the dreams of late Kanshi Ram. Alleging that the J&K is passing through worst times, as dalits and people of back ward classes are deprived of their due rights, he appealed the BSP supporters and workers to strengthen the party in the State so that poor may get their due rights.
A mass bhandara was also organized on the occasion.
