Sethi calls for strong coordination between Media & Info Deptt

JAMMU, Mar 16: Describing Information Department as a critical link between the Government, Media and the general public, Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi today held interactive session with media persons.
She said that it is important that such sessions are organised at regular intervals to help grow better relations between the Government and the media fraternity.
Principal Secretary, Information, B. B. Vyas, Director Information, Muneer- ul- Islam, Joint Director Information, Jammu, Smita Sethi, and other senior officers of the Information Department were also present on the occasion.
Emphasizing on strong coordination between Information Department and the media, the Minister sought cooperation of the media persons for managing spread of information regarding developmental works, policies and programmes of the Government to the public.
“Efforts would be made to create a professional environment in the department to ensure that facilities are extended to the media persons and their problems addressed”, she added.
On the occasion media persons belonging to both print and electronic raised several key issues confronting the media fraternity and sought intervention of the Government to address these on priority.
Director Information, Muneer-ul-Islam assured the media fraternity that he would ensure that expectations are met and steps taken to address issues in the course of time.
Meanwhile, Muneer-ul-Islam, took charge as Director Information J&K. Muneer-ul-Islam, is a Post Graduate in Mass Communication and comes with rich experience of working with the media.
