JAMMU, Mar 16: 10th JK Science Congress concluded today at Jammu University with a valedictory function.
Former Vice-Chancellor of JU, Prof Y R Malhotra, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that the need of the time is excellence and that comes from correct individual pursuits. He called upon the scientists to understand the effective ways of scientific research and asked them to put in extra time to the preliminary conditions. He further stressed for collaborations between the Department of Science and Technology and the Universities asked them to find out the ways of implementing the findings of the researchers during the seminars and conferences.
Speaking on the occasion, JU Vice-Chancellor, Prof R D Sharma said that there is a need to focus on innovations to deliver the benefits of Science and Technology across the society which can ultimately lead to inclusive development.   He further said that the collaborations amongst people with broad knowledge of science as a whole combined with discipline-specific vertical depth and sufficient knowledge of methodology and terminology used in various disciplines would be a good recipe for pushing the frontiers of science in all directions.
Prof I A Hamal, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU, dwelt upon the key areas including Mountain Engineering, Energy Conservation, Agriculture and Horticulture Sectors and Climate change, which are of great concern and need immediate attention.
Earlier, Prof Rajni Dhingra, Co-organizing Secretary, deliberated upon the various aspects of the congress.
Prof Kuldeep K Sharma, Organizing Secretary, presented the report of the Congress while JU Registrar Prof Manoj K Dhar presented the formal vote of thanks.
The 10th JK Science Congress witnessed the participation of about 700 delegates comprising of 200 faculties, 380 Research Scholars and 120 students. 300 oral presentations and various poster presentations were made during the three-day event.
