Two Forest officials suspended

SRINAGAR, Mar 16:The Forest Department suspended two officials after illicit timber was recovered from Darian forest area of Panzalla in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
Sopore police seized 150 cubic feet illicit timber from a residential house while about 113 cubic feet timber was recovered from Darian forest area in Panzalla.
Police said that on a tip off, SDPO Rafiabad and SHO Panzalla seized 150 cft timber from the residential house of Anayat-ul-lah Mir son of Jabbar Mir resident of Kutru Naribal, Rafiabad. Police also searched the nearby Darian Forest area and recovered 113.40 cft of freshly cut timber concealed in the forest.
Police has registered a case under Section 6 Forest Act and 379/RPC and investigation has been taken up.
The conservator of Forests, Main Javed said that two forest officials, Forester Farooq Ahmad and beat guard Ghulam Ahmad were suspended following timber smuggling in compartment number 42 of Rafiabad.
