Sir,
The Governor of J&K State has recently announced that there is a proposal to turn Jammu, Srinagar,Katra and Anantnag into smarts cities. This is welcome decision as it shall furbish the image of these tourist and pilgrim hubs and make them attractive destinations for local as well as foreign tourists.
Now, the question arises when shall those places become free from grime, gravel, stench and rubbish with dilapidated roads, uncovered gutters and heaps of garbage in open streets.
The glimpse of bus stand and interior Jammu city present a dismal picture, with heaps of garbage, lidless man holes and open gutters emitting foul smell. The mounds of garbage and filth on the roads mirrors the gloomy picture.
On the one hand the Prime Minister talks of “Swachh Bharat;” on the other hand JMC, Jammu has run short of money and is unable to provide dustbins as citizens with civic sense feel it bad to throw waste on the streets.
Yours etc…
