JAMMU, Mar 17: Temporary teachers of 2014, who are observing a hunger strike for the last three days in support of their demand for continuation of their service, today extended their fast dharna even as condition of some of them was deteriorating.
Police shifted two protesting teachers to the hospital after their condition started deteriorating today.
The protesting teachers said that they had no option other than to extend their ongoing fast dharna as the Government did not assure them to consider their `most genuine’ demand of continuing service.
Holding placards and banners, the protesting teachers raised slogans in support of their demands near the Press Club, where the ongoing hunger strike is being observed.
Yesterday BJP MLAs R S Pathania and Sham Choudhary had visited the protesting teachers and assured to take up their demand before the Government.
The protesting teachers appealed the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and his deputy Dr Nirmal Singh and Education Minister Naeem Akhtar to personally look into the matter and address their issue.
The protest dharna is being organized under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Temporary Teachers Association-2014. A number of temporary teachers are taking part in the fast dharna.
According to Balwinder Singh Pawar, president of the Association, the fast dharna will continue till the Government concedes their demand.
