JAMMU, Mar 17: National Conference Legislature Party (NCLP) leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been allotted the seat, which then PDP LP leader Mehbooba Mufti held for six years in the Legislative Assembly.
Omar will be seated on second seat of front row on the opposition benches, the first seat being always reserved for the Deputy Speaker. Mehbooba Mufti, who was leader of 21 PDP MLAs in the previous dispensation, held the same seat in PDP-Congress coalition Government.
“It’s an honour to formally take over as MLA for my constituency. I look forward to performing that role to the best of my abilities,” Omar tweeted after taking oath and affirmation as the MLA.
“Today was spent figuring out who is who in the Assembly and who they beat to get there. Lots of new faces on both sides of the aisle,” he wrote on twitter.
Omar represents Beerwah constituency in the Assembly.
