It is unbelievable that there are as per reports many officers in the government who feel shy to file annual property and assets returns. How are they allowed to continue with such a lapse on the part of service rules is hard to understand. In many GOI undertakings failure to submit such returns by a fixed deadline is considered as a gross misconduct and besides disciplinary action, the concerned employee could be proceeded against on corruption charges or amassing property or properties without disclosing the source of its funding. The new government in the state is expected to be very strict against such government officers to curb amassing of assets disproportionate to known sources of income. This is a major step towards discouraging the menace of corruption.
