New industrial policy will give boost to production, employability: Chander Prakash

JAMMU Mar 18: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash, has sought cooperation from the captains of industry to help creating conducive atmosphere for rapid industrial growth, which holds key to productivity and generating employment.
“Our focus should be on generating employment for the local work force”, he said and urged the industrialists to adequately compensate the hard toil being put in by workers in their units. He said it was incumbent upon the entrepreneurs to ensure that workers are not exploited in any way. “While the Government will strictly check this menace, the industrialists have to create an atmosphere wherein workers and the employers can work towards growth of industrial sector in tandem”, he added.
“This would create an atmosphere of security and justice for skilled and unskilled workforce”, the Minister maintained.
The Minister while addressing the Industrial Association Gangyal emphasized an enhanced coordination among all stakeholders to steer the State towards progress and prosperity.
Describing industrialists as a major contributor in State’s economy and employment generation, the Minister said that the Coalition Government is determined to provide a comfortable atmosphere to them to help take industry to new highs. He said that all the issues raised by different trade and business associations have been included in the new drafted policy to make it a business and investor friendly document.
He exhorted upon the officers and the entrepreneurs to uphold the sanctity of their respective institutions which is pre-requisite for success of any initiative of the Government. He asked the officers to work with utmost care and concern ensuring speedy disposal of public grievances as prompt public delivery system is the main mantra of the present dispensation.
Referring to establishment of a mother dairy in the State, the Minister said that the possibilities would be explored to rope in renowned industrialists for their ventures here. He said that there is also a proposal to establish an industrial estate in the periphery of Jammu.
Among others present were Financial Commissioner I&C, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Director Industries, Dr. Abdul Rashid, MD SIDCO, Kifayat Rizvi, MD SICOP, M.L.Tickoo besides industrialists.
