Senior doctors support Minister on ‘Dress Code’ issue

JAMMU, Mar 18: The senior doctors of Health and Medical Education including doctors from peripheral hospitals today supported Minister of Health and Medical Education, Lal Singh on the issue of ‘Dress Code’ for doctors and paramedical staff.
Addressing a press conference under the aegis of Association of Doctors Jammu Province (ADJP) here at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, Dr Zaheed Geelani, HoD, Pharmalogy, GMCH, said ‘Dress Code’ is essential to maintain the honour, dignity and identity of medical professionals.
He said ‘Dress Code’ is required for the convenience of the patient and to avoid frequent episode of conflict between the patients and their attendants. “Therefore, we support the stand of the Minister on this issue”, he added.
He said according to Government Order No 383 HME of 2004, every doctor is required to wear white apron with white collar, paramedical staff, white apron with green collar, Nursing Orderly, white apron with blue collar, Sweepers, blue apron and nurses, white Salwar Kameez with white apron and red collar.
