State Level Gojri Literary, Cultural Meet concludes

JAMMU, Mar 18: Two-days State Level Gojri Literary and Cultural Meet organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages concluded here this evening.
Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Abdul Gani Kohli was chief guest in this major literary event, which was held at KL Saigal Hall, here.
Prominent writers, poets, intellectuals and lovers of Gojri language attended the conference in large number.
Addressing the meet, Abdul Ghani Kohli called upon writers and intellectuals of Gojri language to actively work for its promotion.
He assured full support of the Government in this regard and also assured it would push for inclusion of Gojri in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India. He said Gojri will be developed on modern lines.
Welcoming the participants, Secretary Academy, Haroon Rashid Ahmad gave an overview of the Academy’s initiatives for the development of Gojri and specifically referred to its massive publication programme in the language.
Dr Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor JKAACL, spelt out the publication programme of Gojri and said that 80 books in Gojri were published in last three years, comprising about 24000 pages. He said from this year Academy is starting to promote Gojri by uploading the treasure of Gojri books on internet.
Prominent Gojri writers presented their papers followed by discussion and question-answer session. A paper on “Nomadic Folk of Gujjars was presented by KD Chopra, while Abdul Ghani Araf, Jahangeer Asghar and Munshi Khan presented papers on different aspects of Gujjar Heritage.
Naseem Poonchi and Ghulam Sarwar Choyan spoke about the development made by Gojri literature in Jammu and Kashmir.
In State level Music event Bashir Mastana and Party, Noor un Nissa and Party, Razia Begum and Party, Ayaz Saif and party, Sadaqat Bajran and Party, A K Music Group and Rukhsana Kouser and Party presented the music items.
This was followed by a State level Mushairas presided over by Prof MK Waqar. Shokat Naseem, Ishaq Bajran, Lal Hussain Gohat, Atta-ullah Shad, Hameed Anies, Yaseen Naz, Gulzar Gulshan, Kareem Rehmati, Bashir Lohar, Ghulam Sarwar Chouhan, Noor Mohammad Majrooh, MH Naseem, Jan Mohammad Hakeem and Khakan Sajjad were also present.
