Sukhnandan for timely completion of desilting works of canals

JAMMU, Mar 20: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar today conducted an extensive tour of Sarore Ratnal, Khairi, Chakda, Shahpur, Kickrayal, Chanu Chak, Bhamal Kothey, Pandorian, Bahadurpur and Nandpur of Bishnah tehsil and reviewed the ongoing repair and desilting works of D-9 Ranbir Canal .
Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control H C Jeerath besides Superintending Engineer I&FC, Executive Engineer I&FC, Assistant Executive Engineer I&FC accompanied the Minister.
The Minister said that Government has released Rs. 1.49 crore under annual plan for construction of 36.60 kilometer D-9 Ranbir Canal banks, and desilting works. He directed the Chief Engineer I&FC to gear up their men and machinery for timely completion of the works and ensure water is released on time.
Mr. Sukhnandan asked for maintaining quality of material, adherence to the technical norm and proper curing, adding that no laxity in this regard will be tolerated. The Minister directed for repair of irrigation channels for proper distribution of irrigation water to ensure water facilities at the tail end so that the farmers do not face any inconvenience.
He stressed upon the officers to make functional all lift stations in the area and directed them to personally monitor the quality of ongoing works in the area and submit the progress report to his office .
