JAMMU, Mar 20: An unknown girl today committed suicide allegedly by jumping into River Tawi in this winter capital of the State.
“The young girl about 18 years of age, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, jumped from Tawi bridge near Vikram Chowk about 8 am today and died on the spot,” Incharge, police post , Nehru Market, SI Khairati Man Khajuria said.
He said on getting information from passersby, a police team immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body of the girl in mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for identification and other legal formalities.
He said after registering the case they have started investigations to ascertain her identity and the reasons which forced her to take such extreme step.
