JAMMU, Mar 24: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar exhorted upon the farmers to make balanced and judicious use of fertilizers for enhanced agriculture production.
Addressing the farmers during a seminar titled importance of micro nutrients in crop production by Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative (IFFCO) here today, the Minister asked them to get soil tested to know about the potential and requirement of their agriculture land. “It will help them feed their land with proper and need based fertilizers for enhanced agriculture production,” he added. He said that fertilizer contributes to 50 percent of the agriculture production so it needs to be used as per the requirement of the land.
The Minister said that the Government has a vision of creating durable assets in every part of the state but simultaneously it becomes the moral responsibility of the people to ensure proper upkeep of these public utilities. He sought people’s participation in effective implementation and monitoring of development works in their respective areas.
Responding to demands of locals, the Minister assured that a tube well would be dug in the area besides other issues of better basic amenities would also be looked into for consideration.
Elucidating the objective of the seminar, State Marketing Manager, Shakti Singh, said that it is endeavour of IFFCO to raise awareness among the farmers about the significance of balanced use of fertilizers for better yield. He asked the farmers to use water soluble fertilizers that too as per land requirement. He said that besides fertilizer production IFFCO is involved in various social activities. The organization has contributed Rs.10 crore for Swachh Bharat Mission besides it has distributed 7 trucks of ration and 45000 blankets among flood victims in the state.
Later, the Minister distributed blankets donated by IFFCO under relief programme for flood victims.
