JAMMU, Mar 24: The Opposition members of National Conference and Congress today resented absence of Ministers at the treasury benches especially Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu during debate on the budget.
As second sitting of the Assembly resumed at 3 pm, former Speaker and NC MLA Mubarak Gul and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Rigzin Jora were on their feet questioning absence of the Ministers especially the Finance Minister in the House.
“Why the Finance Minister is not here? The House shouldn’t be taken lightly. When discussion is taking place on the budget, the Finance Minister should be here,’’ Jora said.
Rural Development Minister Abdul Haq Khan said he was in the House and noting the points. “I will convey the points raised by the MLAs to the Finance Minister,’’ he said.
Few minutes later, Jora was again on the feet saying no Minister is noting the points and the House is being taken lightly.
Haj and Auqaf Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri called upon the members to listen the speeches carefully.
“We have seen the budgets earlier also,’’ Veeri reminded the members.
Speaker Kavinder Gupta said it was good that the members have brought absence of the Ministers in the House to him. He said he will ask the Ministers to remain present in the House. The members then took their seats.
