Lal Singh reviews projects under health sector

JAMMU, Mar 25: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today reviewed the status of ongoing projects under health sector in a meeting held  today.
Commissioner/Secretary Health and Medical Education Shantmanu, Principal Government Medical College Dr. Ghanshyam Dev Gupta, Director General Indian System of Medicine (ISM) Dr Kabir Ahmed Dar, Director Health Services Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Mission Director National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Dr Yash Pal Sharma , Project Director Aids Control Society Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Sharma besides senior officers from Planning and Health Departments were present in the meeting.
The chair was apprised that Government has released Rs. 7.35 crore out of sanctioned funds of Rs. 14.52 crore  for construction of 50-bedded Sub-District Hospital building at Bishnah. The work on the project is under progress on war-footing and would be completed by June this year.
The Minister reviewed the progress on various projects  and directed the  concerned agencies to  expedite the work for their timely completion while maintaining quality standards as per specifications.
Ch Lal Singh said that health infrastructure that is being developed will be an asset to the State and will help cater to the healthcare needs of people. He called for better coordination among the executing agencies and the concerned departments for improved results on ground.
While reviewing the district and block wise performance of the health institutions, the Minister called upon the health functionaries to provide better medicare to the people. He said that focus is being laid to strengthen the existing health institutions including laboratories and emergency wards particularly in far-off areas to ensure best possible healthcare facilities.
Ch Lal Singh asked Commissioner Secretary H&ME to post adequate staff by creating new posts of medicos and paramedics to strengthen the health institutions in far-off areas so that the best possible healthcare facilities to the people will be provided.  He directed to take up the matter with PSC for early filling up of vacant posts of doctors.
He said inefficient officers will not be tolerated, adding that a monthly review of performance will be done. He directed the HoDs of ISM, Health Services, NRHM, Drugs and Food Control Organisation to personally monitor the progress of each employee.
Regarding filling up of promotion quota posts of Non-Gazetted employees, the Minister directed for convening DPC within two days.
The Minister asked the officers to purchase the required equipments in the hospitals and dispensaries by completing  the codal  formalities.
Ch Lal Singh also took stock of the status of drug supply to the hospitals of Jammu province and reviewed progress on the implementation of National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular and Stroke (NPCDCS), National Programme for Healthcare of Elderly (NPHCE), besides civil works and utilization of funds provided under various centrally and State sponsored schemes.
