MENDHAR, Mar 25: A minor girl was drowned in underground water tank while a woman was allegedly stabbed by a Government teacher in Mendhar today.
A police spokesman said that 10-year-old Mehreen Akhtar, daughter of Mohd Aksar, resident of Bera village fell down into a water tank near her house today. The parents started searching for the girl after she did not return home. Later, her dead body was found floating in the nearby tank. The police has taken cognizance.
Meanwhile, Inayat Bi (45), wife of Mohd Ismail, resident of Darana village was allegedly attacked on head with sharp edged weapon by one Zia-ul-Rehman, working as teacher, over some family feud. The victim is in relation to the accused. The woman was admitted to District hospital with deep stab wounds. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
