JAMMU, Mar 27: Reacting to statement of Pak Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam that raising of Pakistan flags reflects the sentiments of Kashmiri people and their love for Pakistan, BJP State general secretary & MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia today said that Tasnim Aslam belongs to a class of so-called thinkers/writers who thrive through pervert intellectualism and seek to stay relevant through outrageous postulations from time to time.
Jasrotia said the tone and tenor of his discourse is yet again a manifestation of the same mind-set where he has once again resorted to his favourite Kashmir theme with anti-India overtones. Jasrotia further said that “Pakistan’s self-destructive and futile quest for territorial aggrandizement in J&K is well known,” and any suggestion to include people of Kashmir is nothing but an echo of the separatist rhetoric which has since been rejected.
As far as India is concerned, the only pending agenda over Jammu & Kashmir, as also endorsed by the 1994 unanimous resolution of the Indian Parliament, is to retrieve back the area of the State which continues to be under illegal occupation of Pakistan, Jasrotia maintained. Cautioning Pakistan over such statements, Jasrotia said having repeated it on so many occasions there should be no scope for misunderstanding or misrepresenting India’s position on the role of the so called Hurriyat.
“Let me reiterate there are only two parties and there is no place for a third party in resolution of India-Pakistan issues. The only way forward to proceed on all outstanding issues is a peaceful bilateral dialogue within the framework of Simla Agreement and Lahore Declaration. Highlighting the factual position, Jasrotia said that when J&K Constitution was framed after the State’s accession with India, Kashmiris have decided their future through the battle of the ballot under a democratic set up. Common people, fed up with militancy, facing terrorists’ bullets have proved this with their 80 percent participation in recently concluded Assembly elections in State. Pakistanis are being misled to keep the Kashmir pot boiling, he added.
If Pakistan over the years has not amended a word in its Constitution pertaining to Kashmir, how does it expect a section of Kashmiri Muslims to change their opinion and open up their heart for Pakistan? That too after Pakistan’s bifurcation, Jasrotia asked. Jasrotia clarified that all Kashmiris have full faith in the Indian democracy. “The overwhelming participation of the people in the recent Assembly polls is proof of it. He said Pakistan should set its own house in order rather than poke its nose into the affairs of J&K. “Kashmiris have realized that Pakistan is not their well-wisher,” he said.
