JAMMU, Mar 27: The Government today appointed senior member of the Upper House from Congress Party Jehangir Hussain Mir as acting chairman of the J&K Legislative Council.
Secretary, State Legislative Council Mohd Ashraf Mir said that this temporary arrangement has been made with the retirement of Chairman Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra today. He said Jehangir Hussain Mir, who was already included in the panel of Vice- Chairmen, has been appointed as acting Chairman till the new Chairman takes over the charge. Mir said that the new Chairman and the nominated members are expected within a week.
