In western countries even the retailers sell the plants grown in coco-peat. In December last year, I visited Sydney and Canberra (Australia) with my family and while been to nurseries I that the potted plants sold by them were grown in Coco-Peat mixtures. After that I also started raising plants in Coco-peat and have got tremendous results. Even in India some of the progressive Growers and Consultants advice the growers to use Coco-peat. One of the pioneers in this field is Vimal Koul, a consultant in soilless plants growing projects , who undertakes and advises the clients to grow flowering plants and vegetables in soilless culture i.e in Coco-peat.
