DC reviews implementation of Sakshar Bharat Mission

LEH, Mar 28:  To kick-start the Sakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) in the district Deputy Commissioner, Saugat Biswas took an important review meeting with all the Block Development Officers and Zonal Education Officers and set April 15 as the cut-off date for appointment of all the PRERAKs for opening Adult Education Centres at all the 93 Panchayat Halqas of the district.
The Principal DIET, Leh, Konchok Angmo, who is the Member Secretary of the program, apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the latest progress and  initial works of the programs and said that invitation of applications for appointment of PRERAKs for all the Adult Education Centres have already been done.
Evaluating the survey and other important measures under SBM, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the BDOs and ZEOs to select only competent and highly motivated candidates through personality tests so that the objective of the program is attained. The issue of opening the Bank Accounts of Block Shiksha Samitis and Gram Panchayat Lok Shiksha Samitis was also resolved on the spot by the Deputy Commissioner by issuing necessary instructions to the Manager Lead Bank, Leh. He directed for opening of all the accounts by April 15.
Considering the significance of the program, Saugat Biswas urged upon the BDOs and the ZEOs to do the job within given time without any fail.
It is to mention that the BDOs of respective blocks would act as Chairman  and the ZEOs as Member Secretary of the Block Shiksha Samitis while as the Sarpanchs of each Panchayat Halqas and the senior PRERAK would be the Chairman and the Member Secretary of Gram Panchayat Lok Shiksha Samitis respectively. The Assistant Commissioner Development and the Chief Planning Officer also attended the meeting.
