Work on widening of Jammu-Akhnoor, Jammu-Amb Gharota roads to begin soon: Bali

JAMMU, Mar 28: In order to give impetus to upgradation of the civic amenities for the people under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Minister for Social Welfare & Forest, Bali Bhagat laid foundation of Rs. 17.6 lakh Shouchalya complex at Roop Nagar, here today.
The complex will be constructed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) under an initiative of SBM and will fulfill the long pending demand of the people as presently there is no such facility in the area.
Commissioner JMC, Soujanya Sharma and several prominent persons of the area were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the SBM will be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir to provide better civic facilities to the people, adding that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi himself has been actively involved in the campaign to promote cleanliness in the country . He said a greater awareness campaign will be launched in the State to educate the people about the importance of sanitation and components of SBM so that the people can avail benefits of this flagship programme. He said people’s involvement is must to implement this ambitious programme, for which every effort will be made to ensure active participation of all stakeholders in  keeping our environment clean, he added.
The Minister also undertook an extensive tour of Raipur-Domana constituency to take stock of the grievances of the people. He interacted with the people at various places and listened to their grievances and said that all basic services in the constituency will be improved on fast-track basis.
Mr. Bhagat informed that the Jammu-Akhnoor and Jammu-Amb Gharota roads have been approved under Central Road Funding (CRF) and work on their widening and upgradation will start soon. He said these two roads are presently facing heavy traffic volume resulting in numerous road accidents, therefore, the Government will ensure their widening on priority basis, said the Minister.
Later, Mr. Bhagat also participated in a Wrestling event (Dangal) organized at village Amb Gharota as chief guest and given away prizes to the wrestlers.
