Ramnavmi celebrated with religious fervor across Valley

SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Ramnavmi, the birthday of Lord Rama- was celebrated today with religious fervour and gaiety throughout the Kashmir valley. The largest procession was carried out at Shri Ram Ji Mandir, Barbar Shah in the city. Devotees carried out a procession from Kathleshwar Mandir Tankipora, Habbakadal.
Hundreds of devotees thronged the Mandir, where they recited bhajans and prayed for peace and prosperity. The Pundits were dancing and chanting sermons.
The largest possession was witnessed at Kathleshwar Mandir Tankipora, Habbakadal, which moved to Kral Khud, Rani Mandir, Regal Chowk, Lal Chowk, Hanuman Mandir at Hari Singh High Street and Jahangir Chowk and finally culminated at Kathleshwar Mandir again.
Hindu Welfare Society Kashmir (HWSK) spokesman, Anil Kumar Raina said that they had organised the day long celebrations at the Mandir. “The welfare society also organised a special ‘havan’ (Maha Yagya) to mark the birthday of Lord Shri Ram. Jhankis of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmi were taken out,” Raina added.
People, including Kashmiri Pundits, women, and children, in colourful dresses were seen visiting Ram temples since early morning in different parts of the valley.
On the way, the Pundits distributed fruits among Muslims. Muslims and Sikhs were also seen greeting the pundits on the occasion. “Traditionally Muslim brothers leave their shop and come out of the road from where we proceed – they hugged and greeted us, some of them even participated in the procession,” the devotees said.
Reports said that the festival was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety across Kashmir Valley with hundreds of devotees visiting various Ram temples in different parts of the Valley to pay their obeisance.
