SAMBA, Apr 1: Former Minister and general secretary Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Manjit Singh today     criticized Bharatiya Janata Party and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Government for befooling the West Pak Refugees with false promises.
Singh chaired a monthly meeting of the Congress workers and leaders at Vijaypur where they chalked out strategy to establish contact with the people.
During the meeting, the participants appraised Singh about the problems of the people being faced in the Constituency besides discussing various other issues of the public concern.
Addressing the workers, Manjit Singh said that the West Pakistani refugees were taken on ride by the BJP with false promises of granting them citizenship right and one time settlement in Jammu and Kashmir.
After gaining power at Centre as well as in the State, he said, the BJP forgot these people with mere assurances that they would be provided jobs in private sectors and their issues would be treated on humanitarian grounds.
However, the BJP-PDP Government forgot that they had promised for one time settlement of refugees of PoK 1965 and1971 Chhamb displaced persons and citizenship right to West Pak refugees .
“The Government has left them (Refugees) midway without taking into consideration their suffering from decades,” he said, and alleged that their demands were genuine for which they were mislead and exploited by the BJP for power politics.
He reminded people that it was Congress Government in coalition with NC which had sent a proposal for package to the refugees in Jammu and Kashmir.
