Man arrested for murder of wife

JAMMU, Apr 2: A man was arrested today in Samba district for murdering his wife by setting her on fire over a quarrel.
According to SHO Samba, Inspector Ravinder Singh Parihar, “The woman identified as Rekha Devi (39) was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu on March 7 in a burn case at her in-laws residence at Chak Manga in Samba district. The woman had received about 75 % injuries in the fire and was battling in the hospital for life. Today in the wee hours, she succumbed to her injuries in the hospital”.
He said as per the statement of the victim that her husband identified as Digpal Singh alias Gullu set her on fire by putting kerosene oil on her after heated exchanges and quarrel between them over some issue, a case FIR No 43/2015 under Section 307 RPC was registered against Digpal Singh the very next day of the incident at police station Samba.
The officer said that the accused husband who was at large since then was arrested today by them and was booked under Section 302 RPC after the death of the lady.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased lady was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem and fulfilling other legal formalities.
