NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court today dismissed the review petition of Yaqub Abdul Razak Memon, the mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case, and upheld the death sentence awarded to him.
A division bench comprising Justices Anil R Dave, J Chelameswar and Kurian Joseph dismissed the review petition filed by Memon and maintained the death sentence. Memon was sentenced to death by a Mumbai lower court which was subsequently upheld by the Mumbai High Court also. A series of 13 explosions on March 12, 1993 in Mumbai had killed 257 people and left 713 injured. (AGENCIES)
