Union Govt serious towards welfare of farmers: BJPKM

JAMMU, Apr 9: Hailing the announcement of Prime Minister to increase compensation of farmers to 1.5% and lowering the criteria of 50 percent crop damage to 33% for providing compensation to farmers, BJP Kissan Morcha (BJPKM) today said this announcement is testimony to the fact how much the Union Government is serious towards the welfare of the farmers.
While addressing a press conference at party headquarters, State president, BJPKM, Karan Singh along with general secretaries—Kasturi Lal Sharma and Raghuvir Singh Manhas, said that for the first time after Independence any Prime Minister has understood the problems and grievances of the farmers with humane approach and it received wide-spread appreciation from the farming community.
Karan Singh said that criteria of 50 percent crop damage for providing compensation to affected farmers has been reduced to 33 percent by Narendra Modi Government and it will obviously help more farmers to get compensation for their crop loss.
He said that not only this, other important decision is to raise the parameters for helping farmers. The amount of compensation has been increased to 1.5 times.
