IPL should remain clean: MOS Home Rijiju

SRINAGAR : Taking a serious view of revelations that a player was approached for spot-fixing ahead of the ongoing IPL, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju today said any corruption in the event would be dealt with strictly.

“This IPL is a big issue and there are cases going on. If we receive a new issue in hand, then definitely the Home Ministry will take a serious cognisance of the matter and we will start the investigation process or the action, whichever is necessary,” Rijiju told reporters here.

The Union Minister was answering queries on a media report about a Rajasthan Royals player being approached by a former Ranji teammate to fix IPL 8 matches.

Rijiju said the game of cricket must be clean and it should not be a space for the gamblers.

“The game, the tournament, must be clean. It must be in the spirit of the game. It should not be the space for the gamblers to play their game,” he said. (AGENCIES)
