Chairman expresses gratitude to Members for smooth conduct of Budget Session

JAMMU, Apr 10: The Acting Chairman J&K Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir, has expressed his gratitude to the Members of the House for extending their cooperation in ensuring smooth conduct of Council proceedings of Budget Session.
Speaking at the conclusion of the Session here this afternoon, Mr Jahangir also thanked Information Department, print and electronic media for giving adequate coverage to the Assembly proceedings.
He also appreciated the efforts put in by staff of the Council Secretariat for working day in and day out in preparing replies as well as responses to the questions of the Members. He also expressed gratitude of Security wing of JK Police.
The Chairman also appreciated the role of all other departments who were associated with the proceedings of the House during the entire session.
Giving details of the business conducted during the session, Jahangir Mir said that 356 questions were taken up, out of 379 questions, (223 Starred, 156 Un-starred) during the session. He said 6 Government Bills and 5 Private Members Bills were also introduced apart from taking up 34 Calling Attention Notices, out of 59, and 13 Resolutions, out of 20, received by the Council, during the Session.
Earlier, several Members including Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Vibodh Gupta, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Dharambir Singh Oberoi, Jugal Kishore, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Firdous Ahmad Tak, Surinder Choudhary, Qaisar Jamsheed Lone and Sofi Yousuf spoke on the occasion and appreciated the role of former Chairman Amrit Malhotra and Acting Chairman for giving ample opportunities to the Members to highlight and project the problems of the people of their respective areas. They also hailed the role of print and electronic media for giving due coverage of the Council proceedings.
