DyCM inaugurates Sammelan-2015 at MIET

JAMMU, Apr 11: Sammelan-2015, the largest student festival in J&K was inaugurated at MIET campus today by Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh, Dy Chief Minister.
Dr. Singh in his address described Sammelan-2015 as a great platform for showcasing technical and cultural talent of budding professionals. He advised the student community to take active interest in the development of their state as they were the most important stakeholders for its future.
Prof Keshav Sharma congratulated the MIET students for their fantastic organization skills and for organising such a large-scale student festival on their own.
Responding to the demands regarding better road connectivity and uninterrupted power supply to the college campus, Dr. Singh assured the college authorities that every effort will be made to provide the same to the college.
The inaugural ceremony was kick-started by a rocking performance by the MIET music club. A special play “The Dumb Wife” in association with “Natrang” was staged on the occasion.
Later more than 2500 students participated in varied technical, literary and management related events throughout the day. The highlight was the Sunburn Campus which was organized for the first time in J&K. Sunburn is a legendary Electronic Dance Music festival which was initiated in Goa and is now going across the country through the Sunburn Campus events.
The second day of Sammelan will be devoted to cultural items with inter-college song and dance competitions and the Fashion Show expected to be other big draws.
Prof. Keshav Sharma, Controller of Examinations, University of Jammu was the guest of honour and the function was presided over by Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIET group of institutions. Prof Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET was the special guest on the occasion.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Joint Director MIET described Sammelan as an embodiment of the immense initiative, inspiration and aspiration of MIET students.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIET Group, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIET, Prof GS Sambyal, Former Registrar, University of Jammu, Rakesh Kumar, Sales Head, Aircel and Prof S.K Badyal, Principal MBSCET.
