JAMMU, Apr 11: In order to encourage and motivate young lawyers at grass root level to stay and continue in legal profession and to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding of law, State Judicial Academy under the guidance and patronage of Chief Patron of State Judicial Academy, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Committee of Judges, State Judicial Academy (Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Chairman and Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Member) today organized one day training programme for young Advocates of Bar Association, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi.
Justice (Retd.) J.P. Singh was the resource person who addressed the young Advocates.
The programme was conducted by Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director, State Judicial Academy. While welcoming the resource person and participants in the programme, Director, State Judicial Academy deliberated on the need for such training programmes for the young Advocates and said that platform provided by the Judicial Academy is an opportunity for the young lawyers to benefit themselves in updating the knowledge of law and clearing their doubts by interaction with Hon’ble Resource persons.
In his address, Justice J.P. Singh enlightened the participants regarding ways and means which they can adopt while dealing with criminal cases. He told the participants some guidelines for trial of criminal cases and advised the participants to instill habit of reading and study well by understanding pros and cons of the case. In order to make programme more interesting and participating, Justice Singh also demonstrated samples of draft applications and shared experience from his life both as an Advocate and Judge.
Vinod Kumar, Sub-Judge, Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Deputy Registrar, State Judicial Academy, Jagdish Raj, Faculty Member and staff of the Academy were among others who attended the programme.
