2 police cops injured, 2 vehicles damaged in stone pelting

JAMMU, Apr 11: In a joint effort, Miran Sahib, Bishnah and Gadigarh police foiled bovine smuggling bids. However, police had to face tough time as bovine smugglers along with Gujjars resorted to stone pelting at Bishnah and Maralia area of Miran Sahib in which 2 police cops got injured and 2 vehicles of the Police Department were damaged.
As per police sources, on specific information about bovine smuggling, police teams from Miran Sahib, Bishnah and Gadigarh police stations tightened their nakas.
Police team from Miran Sahib police station led by SHO SI Mohammad Iqbal Chagatta and SDPO RS Pura Devinder Singh intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02T-6109 at Maralia.
On seeing police party, bovine smugglers managed to escape from the spot after abandoning the vehicle. During checking, police recovered 20 bovine animals from the truck.
As the police cops were taking the vehicle towards police station Miran Sahib, bovine smugglers and Gujjar resorted to stone pelting on them at Maralia, in which a police cop identified as Ghulam Hussain received injuries and was hospitalized. In the incident, a police vehicle also got damaged, but police team successfully brought the vehicle to police station and seized it.
A case under FIR number 49/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Miran Sahib police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the bovine smugglers.
Meanwhile, on specific information from SDPO RS Pura Devinder Singh, police team from Gadigarh police post headed by SI Arun Sharma under the supervision of SHO Satwari Kulbir Choudhary and SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AH-6881. During checking, police rescued 14 bovines but the accused persons managed to escape from the spot taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR number 59/15 under Section 188 RPC and 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Satwari and investigation started.
Bishnah police team also stopped a truck loaded with bovines. Taking benefit of the darkness, the smugglers unloaded the bovines from the truck and started stone pelting on the police team. A police cop was injured and a vehicle of Police Department got damaged in the incident.
However, Bishnah police seized the vehicle and registered a case under relevant Sections.
