Jammu University Scholars call on Education Minister

JAMMU, Apr 12:  Scholars of Jammu University led by Rabinder Singh, today met Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar and presented a memorandum to him. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss future prospects of different subjects in 10+2 and at higher education level.
During the meeting, Singh raised various issues including introduction of new subjects in higher education and synchronization of different subjects in universities with higher and school education level.
Responding to the issues raised by the delegation, the Minister said there is need to devise a curriculum in schools and colleges which can help generate employment and boost economic growth. He said there is a pressing need for introducing new courses in educational institutions, which can generate employment according to the market demand.
Akhtar said employability should be the main focus of academic curriculum and his ministry is working on it. He said it is highly appreciable that people from management background are opting for academic profession and pursuing doctorate though they can get good packages in private sector. He said remote sensing is new area in geography and has scope in the market.
Education Minister also assured the delegation that the problems being faced by the scholars will be redressed on priority.
Other members of the delegation included Jaswinder Singh,  Sushma Kaushal,  Rajni Sarangal , Swati Sharma,  Ashwani Kumar, Joshi Sharma, Rasspal Sharma and Amrik Singh.
