Judicial Academy organizes refresher course for Munsiffs

JAMMU, Apr 12: Under the guidance and patronage of chief patron of State Judicial Academy, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and  Committee of Judges, State Judicial Academy (Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Chairman and Justice Hasnain Massodi, Member), Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy today conducted one day refresher course for Munsiffs of Jammu province.
Justice (Retd.) O.P. Sharma was the resource person. The programme was conducted by Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director, State Judicial Academy. In his introductory remarks, Director, State Judicial Academy deliberated on the need for such refresher programmes for the Judicial Officers.
Session-I was on “Sections 4 & 5 of Land Alienation Act  and Sections 17, 49, 69, 77 and Rules of Registration Act.” , Session-II related to “Sections 35 and 149 of Stamp Act, Easement Act for the purpose of Order XXXIX Rule 1 to 4 of CPC, Difference between Section 14 and 15 of Right of Prior Purchase Act and Limitation for such suits.”, and Session-III was on the topic “Jurisdiction of Criminal Courts for inquires and trials with special emphasis to the cases under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act.”
Justice Sharma dealt with all the topics of the programme and exhaustively explained the provisions. He by his long and varied experience enlightened the participants regarding ways and means which they can adopt while dealing with cases and reminded the officers about their powers, duties and responsibilities in dispensation of justice.
