Man jumps into Tawi River

JAMMU, Apr 12: A man today made an abortive attempt of suicide allegedly by jumping into River Tawi in this winter capital of the State.
“Mohd Aslam (35) son of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Thannamandi in Rajouri this afternoon jumped into River Tawi from the main bridge and fell into the shallow waters,” police sources here said.
They said on getting information, a police team from police station Nowabad immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the man, who was later shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
“He had a narrow escape,” police said and added that a case has been registered and investigations are under way.
