JAMMU, Apr 13: After restraining BOPEE from finalizing the selection of MD/MS/PG Courses in Medical Colleges, High Court today stayed the counseling of MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses under the reserved category called Rural Service Category.
Advocate Abhinav Sharma appearing for the petitioner submitted that petitioners were serving as Medical Officers in Health and Medical Education Department of the State and they are aggrieved over the exclusion by virtue of Notification No BOPEE/Exam-01/2015 dated April 5, 2015 despite having qualified the entrance test under Rural Service Reserved Category for which 10% of total seats were reserved in Open Merit other than General Category.
He further submitted that petitioners had applied under reserved category called Rural Service Category and secured more than 40% marks entitling them to be called for counseling. However, respondents appear to have selected only 7 candidates from this category and petitioners despite qualifying in this category have not been called for counseling though as such 32 seats were earmarked for Rural Service Category.
Upon this, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat issued notices to State and others and in the meanwhile stayed the counseling.
