JAMMU, Apr 13: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) celebrated 12th annual day.
On the occasion, Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Railways, gave away awards and shields to outstanding performers of RVNL.
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), was created in 2003 to undertake mobilization of financial resources and for implementation of capacity augmentation projects, including Port Connectivity Projects.
RVNL was granted ‘Mini-Ratna’ status in September 2013. The PSU has been continuously rated as “Excellent” by the Department of Public Enterprises for the last 4 years. Having achieved the targets set, the Company is also poised to obtain an “Excellent” rating for 2014-15.
The turnover of the Company in 2014-15 has grown to about Rs 3100 crores. The pace of delivery of projects has improved steadily and during the past year RVNL contributed 37% of the Doubling and Railway Electrification works completed by Indian Railways.
During 2014-15, RVNL completed Electric Loco Assembly and Ancillary Unit of CLW in Dankuni, on a turnkey basis in a record period that included installation of machinery and equipment, and providing rail connectivity. RVNL is also constructing new line connecting Rishikesh to Karanpryag in a hilly terrain and Metro Railway in Kolkata.
RVNL has formed High Speed Rail Corporation of India Ltd, HSRC as its fully owned subsidiary in 2012. RVNL/HSRC has been entrusted with conducting the feasibility studies for Diamond Quadrilateral Network of High Speed Rail connecting four metros i.e. New Delhi-Mumbai-Chennai-Kolkata-Mumbai and diagonals connecting New Delhi-Chennai and Mumbai-Kolkata-Mumbai. RVNL/ HSRC, with the cooperation of Government of China, is involved in project for raising of speed to 160 kmph on Chennai-Bengluru-Mysore route and feasibility study for New Delhi-Chennai High Speed Rail corridor.
